So it's Easter? What does that mean? It means I get to sing one of my favourite Hymn’s…
Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior,
waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Up from the grave he arose;
with a mighty triumph o'er his foes;
he arose a victor from the dark domain,
and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior,
vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!
Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior;
he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!
I think it really celebrates the moment! (Great musically) but so often we find ourselves trapped in the story of the cross. Trapped in the despair and anguish. Jesus died for us, we are not worthy of his love, grace prevailing! We get so caught up in the sin and the blood and the sacrifice, the mourning and the sorrow. Which is great...
BUT JESUS ROSE FROM THE GRAVE...
He didn’t stay on the cross, he didn’t stay in the tomb, he didn’t stay dead!
And through his death promised us new life. A life with his father.
Someone was telling me recently (BK) that the resurrection is the start of the new heaven and the new earth that will come. The resurrection is where this all started and we can look forward with hope, in faith and continue to Love. Love God and Love his people, all people.
Christ is Risen… He is Risen Indeed!
